I just got my front fenders and hood straight but I cannot find any bolts to tighten the radiator support to the frame. On most of my other GM cars of this era there are 2 bolts, one on each side. I only see on the 61 Caddy, a carriage type bolt in the dead center of the support. Is that the bolt that will keep the front from moving?
I am used to 2 long bolts, huge washers and some with rubber mounts.
Help!

Thanks

Hi Jack,

It doesn't take much to support the front crossmember of these cars.

The reason they used the "Coach" headed bolt was because the square under the bead would lock into the crossmember, and therefore during assembly, there wasn't any need for an extra hand to hold the bolt from turning.

Using a single, centre-mount, allows the chassis to flex and move without twisting the body panels.

Yes, there's only 1 center bolt. The inner fenders bolted to the frame provide additional frontend support. Here's a picture.

Huge piles of engine parts, brackets, tin, Hydramatic & Jetaway parts,  thousands of stainless moldings, dozens of perfect sedan doors.

Hi John,

I just printed the page up and went over it. Please look it over, then look at both sides at parts number 6.0752 (Conv. Only) and then 6.0763+6.0750+6.0754+6.0750+6.0760+the one screw and 2 locker washers and nut for each side. It seems that those are the parts that hold the radiator support to the frame.
John, by any chance do you have a pair? If not I have to start looking.

Thanks
Jack

Bruce,

How are you mate?
Please print the sheet up or blow it up to a larger size and look at it. Then read what I just wrote as answer to John.
I have to find the mounts.

Bruce is now on his way to the good ole US of A and will be here (and in Canada) for several weeks traveling about.  He'll also be at the Cherry Hill GN bunch up.

Hi Geoff,

I know that, but we intend to sleep a bit late and visit my father -in-law who  is directly to the coast in Long Branch. This way I get brownie points from the wife and I save the gas on the drive. home  ;) I kill 2 birds with one stone.
I can only afford 2 nights so I figured that Fri & Sat are the best of the 2.
I am stuck at the Hoilday Inn.
