Hello to all -

I was looking at some pictures of a 1957 Biarritz, and noticed something strange.

Seems the oil dipstick is on the driver's side (L) of the car(!)  To the best
of my knowledge, that didn't happen until 1958.  I realize anything is possible
on a 50-year-old car, but did Cadillac ever change dipstick location in production?
I could almost understand if it was a A/C-equipped car, but it's not...

I know 1958 365's have a un-machined boss on the block (passenger side)
where a dipstick tube could have been installed; actually, directly opposite the
1958 location, and exactly where a 1957 belongs...

My suspicion is the guy installed a 1958 engine in a 1957 car, but no pics of
VIN stamping on the block, so you can't be sure...

No. The dipstick was always on the drivers' side of 365cids.

Both tranny and oil dipstick on passenger side, sticks are a pain to reach when dark - AC/duals. Correct 57' block.

On my two '56: the oil dipstick is on the driver side.
On my '57 Brougham: the dipstick is on the passenger side. The block is the original one on this car. The location of the dipstick not very convenient, under the A/C compressor.
