Just started working on a 49 60S. Fairly low miles, excellent runner, original upholstery, etc.   Parking brake handle doesn't hold.  the teeth are worn down so bad that the spring doesn't hold it.  I compared the shaft to later model handles, 51-55 and I noticed that on those cars the shaft is a solid piece of steel.. the 49 shaft is rolled, chromed steel, and it appears to be a milder form of steel, Does anyone have a good fix for this?    And the spring assembly seems weak. Maybe change to a 50's handle and bracket??? Anyone else had this problem? thanx. Dave

You need to find a good 49 replacement.
