I am getting a 1960 Eldorado back on the road after a 30 year nap.

I have a brand new master cylinder, and was trying to remove the old one tonight.  The manual says to remove the 4 bolts that hold it to the booster, and it should come out.

It came with 2 rubber seals.

When I pull on the master cyl, there is a shaft that is connected to the booster, and it is going in and out, and I can see where the 2 rubber seals go.

At this point I did not want to keep pulling or prying for fear of damaging anything.

Is the part that presses the master cylinder in and out seized or stuck on?  There is no rust anywhere on the car, but the master cylinder looks really grungy.

I was going to try tapping on the master cylinder with a light hammer to break things loose, but figured I would ask someone who has already done this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I made a phone call this morning to FEN Enterprises, and they told me that it should just slide out, so I guess the rod is stuck in the back of the master cylinder.

I will be spraying and tapping tonight.

If anyone else has any thoughts, let me know?
