What is the current market rate ($ per pound) of R-12 refrigerant?  Rough approximations are acceptable!

You can find it on E-Bay for around $20 per one pound can.  There's still
plenty available.  Mike

Hello All,another good source is to try a refrigeration company,they have tons of it from old freezers that they decommision,there are some EPA regulations for it,shouldnt be to hard to find someone to bootleg you some though.some of the electrical contractors do this type of work too.HTH Harvey B

Most cans of R-12 freon are 12 oz. cans.

Local shops around here charge $60/lb for charging your system.

Instead of R-12, which I heard can cost upwards of to about $100 a pound, try a product called Freeze 12.  It's a refrigerant, that is one molecule differnt the freon, and is legal and cost about $10 a pound.  I put it in my '85 Eldo, and it works terrific, in fact it appears to be even colder the freon.
