engine belts for 1940 LaSalle

Could someone please advise on engine belts for 1940 Lasalle. I find offered 41-48 but not 40 model. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

The 40 generator/water pump belt is the same as the 41-48. The fan belt is narrower than the 41-48, however according to the 1942 & 1953 parts books the pulleys are the same. Figure that one out!

The narrower belt will ride lower in the same pulley but I don't think it has any effect on performance either way. Maybe there was a clearance problem or something. Never question the General on why things are. There usually doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason to many things.
