1937 caddy VIN sequence question?

Hello All,on my 37 caddy the registration was marked wrong,they have the serial number down as 60-6049,this is the numbers from the cowl tag,it looks like it could have been a serial number plate,the car was imported to Canada from the US back in 1969,i think this is where the mixup began.I have found the proper numbers on the frame rail and the motor numbers,it still has the original engine in it,my question is what should the VIN read like on the registration,the local DMV is very accomodating in this matter,they are going to let me restore it to the proper way.I fround 6B1645 and i think a Y and a star,there is a rivit in the way of the letter Y i think? on the motor it says 6031645 with a star at the end.how should it read on a registration,we do not have titles here in Canada like in the US.i do not know if there should be more letters or numbers to go with it?need to hear from others with a 37 to see how theirs are worded,i think i should use the frame numbers?any help is appreciated.  thanks Harvey B

Harvey, it's VERY important to get the correct serial assigned to this car NOW. The #'s 60 6049 are on the data plate tells me it's a conv. sedan. The data plate has nothing to do with the serial #.  All 37 60 series #'s are 630XXXX. Your motor # is  probably correct. Your frame # has to match it. Mismatched  or incorrect #'s are a serious problem when selling or exporting a car. HTH, Bob

Bob, Dont you mean all 37 serieal numbers should start with 603**** ? Just a typo I guess?

Hi Steve, it's a typo. Mistakes happen late at night when I'm banging on this keyboard trying to help you 37-60 guys. LOL. Bob
