Folks,
Got a friend who wants to install 55 Cad engine and transmission in a 53 Cad. I wonder how much work it will require. The motor mounts and trans mounts are the same, but the engine and bell housing chaged as did the distributhor.

Will the 55 distributor housing hit the fire wall, what other problems might hamper this change.

Hi John, I could never understand why Cadillac made that bell housing change in the last year of the 331. I think the net result is the total length is the same as 53/54. I would bet that the distributor is not going to be a problem.  Maybe someone has done it or has a 53 & 55 side by side.  Bob
