I recently purchased a 63 DeVille convertible.

I'm trying to clean the chrome etc as much as possible on the inside of the car.  The electric window controls and seat control has a good bit of filth on it.  What is the best way to clean it?  I have removed the parts from the arm rest and I've polished the chrome without the non-electrical parts intact. Now I want to clean up the switches that control the windows and seat control.

What is the best way to go about this without damaging the electrical switches?

You can use a fine wooden file or light sandpaper for pins, but not for anything that would break easily.  I use "De-Ox It" on my contacts.  It really helped my sealed blower switches for the air-conditioning.  I had pretty intermittent contact until I used this on it.  It cleans but also protects connectivity.  Nothing is the same as restoring or replacing the contacts but this surely helps.

Unless they are non functional and heavily corroded or pitted, you can simply try CRC contact cleaner or similar.
