The money the government has committed to loan is broken up in 3 installments.  This is the 2nd payment and it is a week late, so when the statement was made, the funds had not yet arrived.

The point is, nothing's changed. Why keep stringing everybody along and bilking the taxpayers out of more money?

Was it Harry Truman that said $hit or get off the pot? Well, GM needs to face reality and file for bankruptcy now as they should have in October.

Yes, the correct quote from Harry Truman was "The Buck Stops Here" -- and he had a plaque
on his desk stating that.  Harry was a Captian in the Field Artiliary in WWI so he knew the term.

Anybody out there know what a "buck pass" is? Some of you older Army guys out there must.
If you do -- then the meaning of that old phrase is self-explanatory.

No surprise.  Socialism didn't work anywhere else, why would it work here?  Let's all ask for Government jobs so we can do nothing and get paid.

I'm not sure what you told us, but I think that it was clear to anyone who understood the situation that the money lent by the federal government was only "kicking the can down the road," so that the current Administration will now be able to decide what to do with the situation.  So, saying that they would need more money was pretty clear last year when the received the first round of loans.

As a strong supporter of this club, I am rooting for the survival of GM, and I would hope that all members recognize that having a solvent GM helps this club.  I do not want Cadillacs accepted at the Orphan Car Show.

The buck in question is not a dollar bill but a marker, usually a knife with a buck horn handle that is passed around in a card game to let everyone know who's turn it is to deal. When it stops in front of you it's your turn to deal. If you do not wish to deal, you may "pass the buck" to the next player.

I got my 1950s political figures mixed up. It was Nixon who said it about Eisenhower referring to his foot dragging regarding putting Nixon on the ticket.

I always thought Ike was concerned with dragging Dick around.
