Folks,

I've been collecting these old glass jars, which were used by Standard Motor Prducts, Kem, and GP (Guaranteed Parts) and possibly others to store, I think, various ignition parts sometime prior to WWII, could be in the late 1920's.

These jars had paper stickers on the front to show the parts inside. For example, one KEM jar has T1266, Contact Point , nothing else. An old GP glass jar has a Standard sticker on it with AL-51, ARM.

Anyone have any info on when these were used, by who, and when they were phased out?

I can post some pictures if there is any interest.

Don't have any info for you but it'd be neat to see some pictures.

Sure.  Post pictures.  Sounds interesting.

It's amazing to look at pictures of the old Cadillac Parts Supply house with boxes of different sizes just waiting for a part to be tucked into and a code stamped on the box or envelope. Plus, as time went on and the "V" and crest changed, so did the packaging.

Once the part was delivered and installed, that Cadillac box was tossed.  An NOS part IN THE BOX--WOW!!!  Santa doesn't even have to wrap it.  The box says it all!  To have the part AND the box it came in...
