can a 41 flywheel be replaced with any other year?, casting # ? too.

My 41 flywheel is missing a tooth, and repair is expensive and not guarentted. I have been offered a 46 flywheel, bur I need to know if they are the same before purchasing. 1 perosn I tlaked to said that 41's were different, but I wanted to get  a second opinion and it seems a number of you have replaced your 41 trans with 46 or later so you guys/girls may know.

also I am guessing my trans in my 41 is orignal, but since I have no way of knowing, where can I check the #'s? the # on the side of mine is C6067.

  The trans. unit number for 1941 and 1942   is " stamped on oil level indicator side of case at the rear next to extention housing"   The numbers for 1941  are 25041C1 -1 thru C1- 18750.
    As for the flywheel on Hydromatics 1941 is part # 8600307 , 1942 is 1097515 and 1946-48 is 8607684. If you had a standard transmission if would fit 41-48. Warren

My motors interchange manual shows the 1941 flywheel for the Hydromatic to be exclusive to 1941.  1942 is exclusive to 1942, and 1946 through 1948 to be interchangeable with one another.  The ring gear itself is interchangeable from 1939 to 1948 however.

Brett, I have to disagree. The 39 to 48 ring gear interchange is for the standard flywheel. The ring gear on the hydro flywheels was not removeable. Your info on the hydro flywheels interchange was correct.  Bob
