I need the lock pins for the convertible hard boot. I am finding them for about $50 each. Is there a generic lock pin that anyone uses that does the job? I don't need to be show perfect just don't want my hard boot to fly away.

Thanks

Check out any Race Car supplier and ask for Dzus Fasteners.

http://www.kenlowe.com.au/body_hardware.htm

They come in various sizes, and hopefully, lengths.

It is possible to make your own, as all they are is a length of rod with a hole drilled in the centre, and a couple of hooks carefully filed into the side in the shape of hooks that catch onto the spring and twist to retain.

You can then weld a head on the other end to whatever length is required.

Using a Carbide Rod hacksaw blade will work if taking time.

The problem with the basic Dzus Fastener is that they are designed to attach thin panels to the body, and not thick Fibre Glass, as in the Parade Boots.

No wonder I can never find those things... there is a 'D'.  I have always been looking under 'Z'.

Finding long ones should not be an issue.   I have seen them in various lengths.  They are commonly used to hold covers on electronic equipment.

The other way to find them simply "Laying " around is to go to any Drag Strip and take a walk around the Pits.

You will eventually find one or two that have fallen onto the ground from not being installed correctly, and get a look at some very nice equipment, and people as well.
