I haven't the history on that exact car, but Derham did do a few conversions of Cadillac 75 cars to formals, similar to a 7533F body style. I had some friends in Grosse Pointe, Mich., who had Derham do such a conversion in the early sixties, some time. They speculated that it could have been the last of such jobs that Derham did. It was a very nice car.

I'm sure that the referenced one has high potential....if the new owner can bear the thought of leaving the drive train original.

I see a formal looking padded top. Did the seller mention Derham or are you making an assumption? Looks like the buyer made a "private" deal with the seller.

At one time I had two 56 Derham 7533 limousines.  One had factory air, rear mouton carpeting, and every conceivable option, rear radio, etc.  The second one was probably a funeral car, with virtually no options at all.  The one thing every Derham formal I have seen had was the oval rear window.  I cannot say there were exceptions to this feature, but I never saw one without it.  Nothing about this car would make me think it was a Derham.

Thaks for all of the answers!  I did buy the car even not knowing full well what it was.  It has a complete frame rebuild including motor, trans, and rear end.  Lots of new chrome and polished stainless trim.  It had been owned by the same person since the mid 50s and has been apart for a long time.  Do you know if the body would be the 7533F?  As soon as I have paper work and documents I will know a little more.  Thanks again.

You can't tell just now, what the car began its life as. If Derham left the body name plate on the cowl, it will tell the story. It  looks like you have a pretty nice project there, and if it's done right, will be a sweetheart.

Lat's assume that Derham did start with a 7533 body. Again, if the body plate is still there, it will tell. If so, even if Derham re-did the interior, the jump seats and divider window would be there.

The telling features of a Fleetwood 7533F body are the padded top, and a ventilator window in the rear doors, and the doors rounded at the top rear corner.

But then, if the car had originally been a 7533, how's come it would have been sent to Derham in the first place?

Anyway, it looks like the makin's of a nice car.

Derham used a body plate similar to LeBaron, or Brunn, etc. on the driver or passenger side of the lower cowl, (outside of car) adjacent to the front door.   By time the 40's and 50's (even sixties as far as that goes), The Derham body plate was an app two to three inch cursive Script that said Derham, and was mounted on the lower lip of the hood, close to the windshield on both sides of the hood.  I have never seen one mounted inside on the cowl, although anythiing is possible.

I wasn't referring to the script name that Derham put on the car. I meant the body data plate on the cowl, inside the engine compartment, where the body number, paint code, and all that was.

On both my Derham limos, and on my friends Pierce town car, no mention of Derham is made on the manufacturer's data plate.

I am restoring a 1941 7533 customized by Derham.  Attached is a picture of the little plaque on each front fenders near the door.
