I have recently purchased a door weather strip kit from a very reliable supplier.
The kit has three pieces of weather-strip material:

1. A corner piece that I presume goes at the rear bottom of the door
2. a 2 foot section of 3/4" wide that is some-what  flat
3. a narrow (less than 1/2") strip that is about 6 feet long.

My car is a two door (convertible in fact).
I assume that the 6' long section is meant to go around doors meant for a hardtop?
In my case the flat 2' section is meant for the rear edge of the door and the narrow stripping to go around the remainder.??

Can some one with 48 or 49 convertible please advise.

Thanks!!!

I would like to re-phrase my questions.

It looks like I may have in fact ordered the wrong weather stripping...I think I may have order a kit for a 75-series (not sure how that happened...but..)

My question is what is the correct profile for the sponge rubber weather stripping that is used for a '48 convertible door. (49 would be the same).

Thanks in advance for your help!

The weather strip on the 48-49 Convertible doors.....The door has a metal track on the bottom of the door which gets crimped over the edges of the rubber and then up the latch side of the door.  There is no weather strip at the hinge side that I have been able to document although it seems that there should be one.  Steele rubber sells two different kinds that they say may be used on the doors.  To this day I am not sure which one is better to be used...the main thing you want to be sure of is that it is not too thick to prevent the door from closing properly..I would be interested in which one you decide to use as I am now doing a 49 convertible since doing my 48.. The door edge weatherstrip I used on the 48 was Steele's # 50-0085-73 and #40-0168-73 for the hinge side but still not sure these were correct

Thanks Herman.

Great input.

I'm going to call Steele Rubber and see what their product specialists have to say.

I will definitely update this post.

Thanks again!
