i just picked up my first Cadillac I got the car off the original owner it has never been painted my question is what is the best way to bring back the shine to original paint the car is rust free and never seen rain or snow.

The car is painted in lacquer, which may be thin in spots.  I would not have anyone take a buffer to it unless they are skilled in working with an older, original car like yours.

I have had good results with Color Back finish restorer.  I resorer I know accidentally discovered that cheap Dupont chrome cleaner also brings back older paint to  a nice shine.

I think I would take some Dupont white polishing compound, and a half bucket of water. Take the can of compound and mix it in the water and make a soupy mixture with it, and try a small section by hand, following that with a good quality wax.

That's a pretty non aggressive way to start.  I am sure you will get a flood of responses to this.

By the way, what body style is the car, and what color? How about a photo or two?

Good Luck,

Brian
