Can anyone tell me what the correct timing is on a 1970 Eldorado 500cu engine?

Thanks,

George

Correct.

Here's a tip to get a bit more responsiveness and fuel economy from your car. In 1970, Cadillac used what they called Transmission Controlled Spark. This prevented any vacuum advance from getting to the distributor in any but top gear.If you by-pass this system, and run the vacuum line directly from the carb to the distributor you can realise better around town fuel economy and a bit more power.

I went further on my '70 Fleetwood and plugged the vacuum advance into manifold vacuum instead of ported vacuum. This gives full vacuum advance in low engine speed situations which also greatly increases responsiveness and further helps economy. But, you may have to experiment with actual base timing settings. I have found that I can run mine at 10 Degrees with little or no pinging.

Mike,

The changes you made also helps your engine run much cooler at idle...and also boosts the rpms a bit at idle which will be a benefit for your AC system!
