I found that the left side in my trunk got very wet, both on the "floor" and down on the left side it was floating water.
After that I have put in at new rubber seal but it still gets wet.
Any ideas about this?
Can water come in to the trunk from some where else?
Is it possible that water comes from the wheel house when I'm driving?

Hello Soren,

I have found that many GM cars from around those years are notorious for leaking water into the trunk from around the bottom of the rear window.

Especially bad leaks if the car has a vinyl top.

The vinyl top holds the moisture in and rust out the metal around the lower corners of the rear window.

G'day Soren,

Yes, I would be climbing inside the trunk with a torch, and with someone reliable on the outside that can open the trunk lid for you when you actually want to get out, have that person play a running hose all over, and under the vehicle, around the window and up in the Inner Fenderwells.

This way, you will see where the water is leaking in.

You will be surprised just where it will be coming in.

Also, these cars had the early Gluing in of the stationary glass, and it could be that the glass is coming loose.   If this is the case, then be prepared for some serious rustification in the area that David mentioned.

Another possible leak is where the molding around the vinyl top has a nut/bolt. There's one on each side in the area you describe.

I'm hoping Bruce means flashlight when he says torch. That could be misconstrued and turn ugly quickly! ;D

Sorry.   Yes, I meant Flashlight.   But, here in Australia, we call Flashlights, Torches.

Anyway, a Battery Illuminating Device. will be the best thing to use.

The torch comes later Bruce when it is time to weld in all the patch pieces around the lower window frame.
