1927 - 314 help setting points. and removing Distributor

Need help setting points on my 314.  also they say to remove the  distributor to set the point.  Can't get the distributor  Have had no luck.   >:(

 I don't have one of these cars ,but do have some reference materials on them. The 314 was made in 1926 and 1927.  at this time, the year of the vehicle was often the year it was sold in. The early cars had the distributor in the rear of the engine  , later it was moved to the front of the engine. If you know the serial  number it would pin point which engine you are working on. You refer to something as "they say " , from what source are you refering? Warren

The shop manuel said to remove the dist. to set the point's  We did it and the housing broke to pieces.
