Hi,

I have a "too much time on my hands" type question. ???
Is the factory air condenser composed of five tubes or a single tube that is formed to looked like it has 5 sections?

Thanks
Ron

Ron,
If you have too much time on your hands why don't you take a couple of pictures of the condenser and post them.  We can tell a lot more about whether the condenser is original or what and answer your question.

Here is a photo of a stock 56 Caddy condenser and receiver.  It actually has 4 ribs and looks like a serpentine belt.  But is it one tube or just stamped to look like it is multi-tube construction.
Thanks
Ron

Ron,
Can't really tell from the picture, but it does appear to be a flat tube, single piece condenser withe fins laid in between the folded rows.  It was a common method of making commercial refrigeration condensers, and coould have been used in automotive. Whether or not this is an original factory unit is beyond me.

Misfit

Relax Greg. Forrest has been hanging out on the other boards too much and is starting to lose it !!!

We're a bad influence on him.   ;D ::)

As I said in the last post, I would retract it. I retracted it by removing it all together. Now I should probably just remove this one and the last one to prevent any more confusion.

It was all a dream... a dream... a dream... a dream...

Nice engine compartment picture!
How did you get your copper lines and flex line so copper colored?
Is the Oil filler cap blue or black - looks blue but I thought they were black.

I was hoping that some one may have a bad condenser that they could look at the tube and see how it was done.  Same type of construction on the Buicks and Olds of the time.

Thanks
Ron

The oil filler cap should be black.
