On top of the inner fender (83 Eldorado) driver's side there is a big ol' pump/compressor/air filter type thing.  What is it?  Looking in the shop manual, I see it in all the photos but have yet to find a pic that labels it.  It is large with a few wires coming and going, and one very small air hose.  Thanks.

How about you put up a pic for us.  ;)

But I would say the ELC pump. Of course, I don't know for sure. Just guessing without a picture.

I am technologically challenged; every time I try to post a pic, it is rejected for size.  Let me no go look up ELC pump.  Thanks.

Definately sounds like the Electronic Level Control pump to me as well.  The air line should go to your rear shocks.

Yep.  There it is on the driver's inner fender.  ELC, I presume?

The item just forward of the crossbar and next to the air cleaner flexible tube. ELC. Electronic Level Control assembly.

Thanks PootMan. And Rick, Open Google and type in Picasa. It's free picture editing software and it works great. Very simple to use. If I can use it, you sure can.   :-\
