Hi there,

I have two spare intake manifolds, supposedly for a 58 engine. One has the numbers 1472224-1 and 7N12 cast in and has a provision for a small tube at the bottom (hump in the center at the bottom of the manifold).
The other one has the numbers 1469262-1 and 2N3 cast in and is flat in the center at the bottom.
If Cadillac followed the GM numbering, then the first one would have been cast in 1957 December 12 and the other one in 1962 December 3. Is this correct or can anyone tell me what I have here?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I cannot answer about the casting numbers. The manifold without the provision for the small tube is the one for 1958; up to '58 the choke coil was heated by hot air coming from the RH exhaust manifold. After this model year, the hot air was supplied to the choke coil by hot air coming from a tube inserted in the intake manifold. Therefore, the manifold with the provision for the small tube is for '59 to '62 cars.
Maybe this will help.

Thank you Roger. Your input was very helpful - I know now which one is the correct 58 intake.
