Help, what is a good hot plug for a 36 Cad?
Thanks,
Frank

Warren Rauch

The factory plug (36-38 V8) was an AC # 45. Cadillac also made avalible AC#44 and#46 for use in cars driven differently than "normal". The hotest one is the AC #46. Your parts store should be able to update this number. Warren

The modern # for these plugs is, in AC, R46-S. The 45 is no longer made. The R44-S is also available, but it is a colder plug. The R46-S which is good for mostly in town low RPM driving is the one to go with. It is available at most any decent supply house.

Folks,

Two things one does not want to do on a 6 Volt system: first is not to use resistor wire, second not to use resistor plugs. They both degrade starting and performance.

Try to find the correct plugs on e-bay or from old suppliers, they are available. Standard wire cables are available from old car folks or you can go to NAPA and ask for off road metal cables. Things run better with direct current, less resistance.
