I've been trying to look at pics of other 68's, but just can't see details clearly enough..so here is my question:
The 472 engine in my 68 CDV seems to sit a bit lower in the back than in the front.  Is this normal?
(My previous old cars had relatively level engines...the small block chevy in my 68 Camaro and the 389 in my 66 GTO.)

Yes, this is normal. If you look closely at most all RWD cars you will see that the engine sits lower in the back, but it's more pronounced on the Cadillac. The reason for this is to keep the tunnel in the car smaller. The use of a hypoid differential and double cardin joints also aids in a lower tunnel.
