The number will start with a 62 followed by a letter that designates your car's body type, J = coupe, L = 6-window sedan, B = 4-window sedan, D = Park Ave. That is followed by the six digit serial number which is the sequence of the car's build (000001 thru 160840 for '62s). The engine number and chassis number will be the sequential number, I believe the door jamb tag would have provided the engine number (in case you plan to replace it).
The engine number is on the lower left side of the cylinder block above the edge of the oil pan. The chassis number is on the top of the left side bar adjacent to the radiator support.
