That's funny; I am about to do the same with the front side windows and vent windows of my '59 sedan.
I think what you need is Glass Setting Tape, which is sold by Steele in 2 different thicknesses (1/32 and 1/16), and 2 styles; rubber / cork composite and rubber polymer. They call it Filler Strip Sash Channel, the part numbers are 70-1114-57,  70-1115-57, 70-2169-57 and 70-2170-57.
I have been searching the web a lot lately to find additional information of how to do, but it is difficult to find good info. From what I have found the rubber-cork composite seems to be the best.
For the vent windows I doubt that even the thin one sold by Steele (1/32) is thin enough, but I cannot find anything else.
Also I have asked several shops here in the Netherlands, even specialized glass shops for vintage cars, but this glass setting tape seems to be impossible to buy over here.
On one Chevy forum they say that this glass setting tape is old fashioned, and they prefer window sealer to install the side windows in the chrome frame.
Anyway, if there is someone on this forum who has ever installed these side and vent windows in their frame, and is willing to tell us exactly what would be the correct way to do this, I would really appreciate this!

Everseal is what we call it in the auto glass business in Canada (not sure what it would be called elsewhere).  It is a thin rubber that wraps the edge of the glass and the sash channel is gently pressed on with a rubber mallet.  It sounds like what you're referring to from Steele Rubber.  After the sash channel is on, spray the perimeter with WD-40.  That expands the rubber and makes a tight seal.

Hi Dan,

I think what you are referring to is this:

But to buy a 100ft roll for just 2 vent windows.....

I wonder if this is any different than the material offered by Steele.

That's the stuff.  I'd order the thinner stuff and if you need the 1/16" thickness, just double it.

Hello,

I just replaced them for both rear side windows on my 1956 and I've used strips of rubber of 1/32" thickness.  I cut each strip to 2” to accommodate the extra length required around the latching lever which extends about ½” from the sash. Not sure if the 1955 has the same setup on the rear side windows.

I’ve taped the strips to the glass to hold it in place and use just plain water with liquid dish soap to help slide the glass, a few taps later with a rubber mallet the glass was back in.

Good luck..!
