Someone offered my Brother-in-Law a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado.  My Brother-in-Law says he saw the car in person.  It is supposedly a rust free car in excellent, or mint condition according to him,  with 48,000 original miles on it.  He is asking me what the car would be worth?  I figure this is a judgment call as everyone has their own idea as to what is excellent.  He says the leather seats are not even cracked.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.  He said he could buy the car for $6K.  Seems a bit high to me but I have been out of it a while.

Thanks, Ed

My 2cents...

If its a hardtop for 6K it should appear show quality to an amateur.  Someone that knows the cars or is a show judge could likely find issues but it would be a really nice looking and driving car with everything working.  Little to no cracking in steering wheel.  No cracks in armrests or dash.

If its a convert for that price I would expect minor issues but overall still a nice looking and driving car.   It may need paint or a new top to look really good but not both.  Interior may have minor typical issues like cracked armrest (but not duct tape) Minor cracks and wear in the seats but no tears.   I would expect a cracked steering wheel but decent dash.  Most things should work but there may be a few things that dont effect safety that need fixing.

Normal wear mechanical parts are for the most part still available from regular auto parts stores.  Plastic body fillers are available.  Armrests I think are now made but not cheap and need to be dyed to match.  Not much else for the interior or body is made new.  NOS is not very common anymore.   Used is usually not too bad except for the really common to fail stuff like steering wheels.
