I would guess not. I base that on the fact that my '57 does not have one and the '58 I had did.

The 56 has one for power brake assist. It looks like a slim coffee can down in the left fender well. Does the 55 use a different brake system than 56?

I'd say it doesn't.  The Hydrovac brake booster didn't need one.  I think they came out along with the Treadle-Vac boosters.  '56 and '58 have canisters and 'Treadle-Vac boosters. '57 was the last of the Hydrovacs and don't have a canister.

Yes but the question concerns a '55, not a '57.

Yes.  And, as I said, 1956 AND 1958 had TREADLE-VAC brake boosters.  1957 DID NOT.  Prior to 1956, Bendix Hydrovac was the standard brake booster.  For some odd reason, Cadillac went to treadle-vac in 1956 and back to hydro-vac in 1957 and back to treadle-vac in 1958.

1955 also had BENDIX HYDROVAC.

Does YOUR treadle-vac 1956 have one?  I do know 1958's (which came with treadle-vacs) have tanks.  Yet, the Hydrovac-equipped '57 cars did not have them.

1957 was the last year of Bendix Hydrovac boosters on the standard and Brougham line.  1958 Eldorado Broughams still had Hydrovacs.

The 1955 (with Hydrovac) does NOT have a vacuum canister.
