I have read little bits and pieces about the brake system on most of the Alllantes being unique but I have never really understood what it was all about.   Anyone care to take a shot at explaining it or give some links to other places that do?

If you mean the troublesome Bosch 111 abs, the rest of the system excluding the wheel sensors, was your normal 4w disc set up. The rear calipers on those year GM cars were also known for seizing up on the slider pins.  Check thiis link for a sample of what goes on. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-allante-forum/135538-88-allante-brake-problems.html
