A POINT OF INTEREST!:  What is the maximum heat range an intake and exhaust manifold should reach in Cadillacs and other GM cars and still run good.  Do they ever reach 1000F. Just curious!  EAM

Intakes should not get much over maybe 300*F  A cast exhaust manifold can fairly easily have surface temps in the 300-500*F range on a stock motor.  I would imagine forced induction could get higher and diesels will run a bit higher but 1000 seems quite high.
