I opened up my 1968  Eldorado  doors to change out the outside window sweeps and it looks like the glass has to either come out or  further down than the normal window travel to remove the old sweep. The rear third of the window comes down just flush with the door top  What I was wondering is if  anyone recalls doing this outside sweep ... and can offer me some guidance>>>  I have the 68 Fisher body manual but it really is an example of poor illustrations and instructions. Is it a big deal just to pull the glass out of the door?  "Thanks for listening"

You don't have to remove the glass. There should be a stop at the bottom of the glass. Remove the stop(s) so the glass can go down further. Just be careful that you don't lower it too far so that the rollers come out of the track.
There should be some phillips head screws holding the sweeps.

Thanks Rob for the advise..much appreciated!

I just finished doing the passenger door outside window sweep on the Eldorado! I dove in and learned that I had to drop the window tracks to the bottom of the door by undoing the top ,middle, and bottom attaching nuts and bolts (page illustration fig 6-46 form the 68 Fisher body manual) This gave barely enough room to get the job done. At first I tried to remove the window but was afraid I’d break it so I went to plan B.  The instructions in the manual are very vague and even the illustration shows a door without a power window motor! The good news is that the sweeps I got from Convertible Specialists were and exact fit both inside and out.  All holes lined up!
