The transmission will need to be rebuilt in my 65 deville. I am planning on removing this and rebuilding as my winter project. I was wondering if anyone has tackled this before. Any tips? Any good sources for rebuild kits?

I have never done this before but I have the time and patience to do it right. Any assistance would be appreciated.

For parts...   www.autotran.us   David Edwards. If you order the full kit ask him for the heavier O-rings. Not the skinny ones. He'll know what you want. 1st class parts and service.

Plus a Factory Service Manual and the proper tools.

I'm not sure if that year & model have the old hydramatic, or the then new THM400 (switch pitch) trans.  The latter is much simpler to do, but do get the factory manual in any case.  A 400 rebuild kit won't have all the parts you'll need.  I have added a few ideas & home made tools to early 400 rebuilding on PHOTOBUCKET, album BUILD A SWITCH PITCH TRANSMISSION.  Bruce Roe  CLC # 14630

Definitely a TH 400 switch pitch in a '65.  TH 400 was first introduced in some '64s (deVilles, 60 Specials)
