Dave,For non Autronic-eye setup the footswitch switches the positive 12V supply for the headlights, with the Autronic-eye it switches ground to operate the power relay. If you need to disable the Autronic-eye and keep everything in place, just remove the 12V positive supply to the Autronic-eye. This should allow you to revert back to the conventional high/low bean with the footswitch via the power relay.
Jose/All,Let me try and revive this topic; which it seems far, far longer than 8 Jun 2010 when it was last discussed? At any rate, I want to disable the Autronic-eye on my '55 CDV. The directive is to "just remove the 12V positive supply to the Autronic-eye."MY QUESTION IS: Does anyone know which wire that would be? Is it on the power relay? My power relay looks like: |---------- Purple ____{o}____ | | <G|--| | Y | | E | | {o} Blue (Pair) L | | L | | O |__________| W {o} {o} | |_ Brown | |__ GreenWhat color wire should I be removing? I suspect the purple one, but am not sure?Appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks!
Jose,Well, goes to show what I know? I would of "thunk" it was was the purple wire.Blue it shall be, and yes, I have two blue wires on one terminal; as indicated by the (Pair) reference in my crude diagram. Thanks a bunch! Have saved me hours of experimentation and frustration ... .
