Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy a set of new splash guards that bold onto the front of the rear fender (exterior) on my 41 Cadi fastback?

I would prefer all chrome splash guards (not original equipment or options, I know!) for aesthetic reasons, but would be OK with black rubber if that is all that is available.

thanks!
Jason

Please email me at:  nightvisiondude@aol.com    if you know of where I can get a set, chrome if possible!

Didn't the 61 series fastback share the identical body (Fisher body) with the other fastbacks of that year (Plymouth, etc)

Would their available chrome rock guards possibly fit my cadi then, if the body is the same?

A PLYMOUTH (sold by Chrysler Corp.) share the same body by Fisher with a Cadillac??  I don't think so!   :D

Do the right thing for your Cadillac and buy the proper rubber splash guards.  Several suppliers have/made - Steele, I think Metro Molded, All Cadillacs, Coopers Vintage.....probably a few others since last time I looked......
You may find a set of chome one's.......some day...

All of the aluminum ones I have seen were in very bad shape due to rocks and gravel hitting them. I also remember that I didn't have a "pair."

Otto Skorzeny

Maybe he meant Pontiac?

I've seen chrome and rubber ones on 41 Pontiacs and rubber ones on 41 Oldsmobiles.

I don't know if the chrome on the Pontiacs is stock though. I would also be willing to bet that the fenders do not interchange among the sister makes but I might be wrong.

You would not be wrong Forrest, the main difference between all the divisions were the fenders, the fisher bodies are similar but as the guards are on the Fenders hes out of luck :o

I figured that was the case.

I know Chevrolet is completely different. Their rubber guard is more of a rectangle shape instead of a triangle like the others.

Not only that but their different between series too, A 62 convertible or coupe takes a completely different shield than a 61 fastback or sedan.
I saw at Hershey years ago a 41 convertible with stainless shields, I liked it, but heaven knows who produced them.

Steve,
If heaven knows, I wish they would tell me.  LOL  I have them on my 41 custom coupe. Many people ask where they came from. I  have no answer. I'd sure like to know who made them.

sounds like someone should do a limited prodution run of chrome gravel guards for the 61, 62, 63 series cars and fill a niche! :-)

Bob,

Can you post a pic of your chrome gravel guards?  I would like to see how the look on the car and get an idea of the detail.

Thanks
Jason

The one that I had was aluminum, with a 3/8" or so lip around the edges, absolutely plain with no ridges. I really don't think they would look more than what they were. Dull metal trying to replace the real thing.

(Which I did in 1958. Went to Hoosier Cadillac on N. Illinois Street in Indy, and purchased a pair for $6.50 apiece. Stock ones. And don't think THAT didn't take a hunk out of my $45.00 per week paycheck. ) Finally figured the correct way to put them on the car. When I had my second NOS pair or Series 61/63/67 new stone guards, I let them go when I sold my Series 67 6719F. The buyer had the car painted and the guards "installed." The jerk couldn't figure out how to get the lip between the fender and the body, so he just trimmed them with a razor knife. I could have cried. It still annoys me when I think about him ruining those one of a kind parts...
