Everyone was so helpful with the headlights, what about backup lights?  I am 95% sure these were added later by some previous owner.  Does anyone recognize what they might have been from?  I don't think they are aftermarket because the base has a slight taper. I think they are pretty old (forties or fifties?) because the lense is real glass.   If they are something easy to get, I might just put them back on.  Otherwise I will just weld the holes shut.

Cadillac never offered backup lights until 1941. The ones shown are for sometrhing like '53 Pontiac, though I'd never put money on it. Best to close up the holes.

As Doug Houston said, they are for 1953-54 Pontiacs.

Since we are on the subject of back-up lights, Cadillac did offered them before 1941. In 1932 and I will assume 1933 since they were essentially the same, back-up lights were standard equipment. The small blue lense in the center of the tailights was thinner on the bottom half. There was a reverse gear operated switch on the transmission which lighted the stop light bulb and light showed through the thin part of the blue lense. My '34 Pierce 12 also has a similarly operated back-up light.

The question arises then as to why Cadillac stopped putting them on the cars, and why they were an extra cost option in 1941 and later.
