That’s not a big deal, isn’t it?

However, have you seen a ’76 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado Convertible which reads 20 miles on the odometer?
Everything is original and is in mint condition.
It was in the showroom of Central Cadillac dealership Ohio from 1976 to 1983.
A gentleman from Ohio bought it in 1983. He drove the car from the showroom to his garage. It was a 20 miles long drive.
I would not be surprised if the first owner (the mysterious gentleman from Ohio) was CLC member.
The current (Hungarian) owner purchased it in 2007, so the car has been staying here in Hungary since then.
It is loaded with all possible options (which were available is 1976).
I was lucky to see it once. It is just amazing to touch and feel a 34 years old brand new car.

I just wanted to introduce you one of the members of our club (Hungarian Cadillac Club).

He also owns other beautiful Cadillacs but this car is far the most interesting.

Ooops, I almost forgot the link: http://www.wiesztcadillac.hu/?action=cadillac&id=27&lang=&no=

Here is a sticker from a loaded 76 Eldo convertible.

$13409.   The only options I see missing are Trackmaster skid control and firemist paint.   ACRS not being available on convertibles.

Here's the sticker for my 76 that shows the manual driver's seat recliner. Was Trackmaster available on the convertible models ?

They charged $85 for the Bicentennial package?      Such a deal.

bnorman:   According to my 75 ordering catalog Trackmaster was available on all models.

I forgot that in 1976 the AU4 Automatic power locks and A79 manual drivers recliner were introduced.

Barry Norman

It was a deal depending on hoe much the Cadillac dealer gouged the buyer !! Some sold for crazy money in 1976 !

I think the trackmaster ended in 75.  Perhaps it was not compatible with the rear disc or hydroboost that came in 76?
I have a 73 convert with it.

Back in '76 the conventional wisdom was that these cars would be $100, 000.00 trophys in "a few years" since there would never be any more convertibles.  It was very common to see them being sold for at least twice the list prices to people who's intent was to store them, un registered for "a couple of years" and become rich.  Didn't work folks, but what it did do, was to preserve a group of cars that would later become highly desirable.
Realistically, the 1976 $13,000.00 list price would work out to near $70,000.00 in todays dollars.
Nice cars, but Cadillacs were made to be driven and enjoyed.

And very few, if any, of those '76 convertibles will now get you that $70,000. So essentially it's a big loss. Especially when you toss in storage costs, insurance and so forth over the last 34 years.

So a non-Bicentennial Eldo with firemist paint and all the options hits $13,770.   And thats without trackmaster until we can verify its availability.   The Bicentennial adds $85, but you can't get the firemist paint, so the non-Bicentennial would be more money with firemist paint option.

And even though a 76 convertible was $463 more than a hardtop, when you add in the optional leather seats, cabriolet roof with astroroof and ACRS, the price far exceeds any convertibles.

TJ Hopland

Or you could have got your whole family new Gremlins for the same money.

Anyone got an option list for 76 Lincolns?   Just curious if a 'loaded' Lincoln was more than a Caddy.  From what I could tell one of those two would have been the most expensive domestic cars. I was sort of surprised to see some of the imports that much more.

I think that some of the allure to the imports was that they were more money. Not necessarily better though. That's what prompted Cadillac to introduce the Seville. to get in on that market. And they were quite successful with it too.

Similar options to the Eldo so figure roughly another $1500 for a loaded model.

I currently own a 76 Eldorado convertible.  It has 98,000 miles on it and I have service records on the car from day 1.  It was dealer maintained to a very high standard of care.  I absolutely love driving this car.  It is not a 100 point show car by any means, but it is my favorite car to jump in and drive.

I had one in the same colors back in 1979.  I bought it from a Lincoln dealer's lot in '79 for $6400.00.  It was being sold by the owner, and the car belonged to one of his friends.  The price on the windshield was $7999.00.  I saw it there on the lot for a few weeks, and I made a crazy offer of $6400.00, and the owner's friend needed the money, so he took the deal.

This was my everyday car at the time.  I sold it in 1982 when I was getting married and buying a house.  I think I sold it for $6500.00 at the time.

I played with Packards, Caddy's Harleys for the next 20 years but always wanted another black eldo convertible with a red interior.  I actually tracked down my car after finding an old owner's card with the VIN on it.  It was in Scranton, Pa.  Had a replacement engine, and a salvage title for some reason.  Since it was a really nice car when I sold it, I had no interest in buying it back and restoring it.  Who knows what it has been through.

One came up on ebay, and it was only a few hours away, so I looked and bought it on the spot.

I do remember that the guy I worked for in 1976 had bought a 1976 Eldorado Cp.  In 1977 and 78, 76 convertibles were going for $25,000 to sometimes $40,000 with almost NO miles on them.  There are still a bunch of super low mileage cars around that I think you can get for around $25,000.

These should be worth more, but they made 14,000 of them in 1976, and there still seems to be a lot of them for sale all the time.

As for me, I am keeping mine until they lower me into the ground.

Personally, I think they look better in colors other than white.
