I just saw this on the LIFE photographs database.  It is from 1941, and shows film star Carole Landis showing her #1 fan Peggy McKenna of Oak Park, Illinois the vacuum operated power top of the Cadillac - WHOOSH!  According to the short article in LIFE, Carole drove Peggy (at 80 mph) to Carmel for a short trip.

p.s. Please note the optional two-toned interior.

And look, the car doesn't have the optional day/nite rearview mirror, just the standard one.  It does have Hydramatic though.

Over the years, I've seen a few of the two-toned interiors, and I find that I just don't like them. My convertible has the solid red interior,  and I have come to feel that it looks more fitting on the car. But, it's a matter of what you like.

Wouldn't it have been great to know what body colors those cars were? It sort of bowled me over when I found it out, but some convertibles had 2 tone body paint jobs!

Mine has the two toned interior (blue and buff), and I prefer it.  I guess it's just what you're used to.

I have a color picture around here somewhere of Betty Grable in hers, it was Dusty Gray with an all red interior, and a black top.  That's one of my favorite combinations.

Carole Landis' looks light, and has a black top.  It might be the same combination, but with two-tone interior.

Neat pictures. I am in the process of restoring a 1941 67 series that was said to have been originally owned by Betty Grable. One of the previous owners said he had a picture of her and the car  but was unable to locate it. Anyone seen it? Harry
