Can anybody tell me how to identify the proper Trumpet horn offered as an accessory for the 75 Eldorado?  I'm looking to buy one and want to make sure I get the right one for this car as their seem to be many variations over the years.  Also looking for the same for my 59 Cadillac.  Any pictures with dimensions would be great.  Thanks.

I believe that all 59's had the curled up horn - at least that's what's on my seville and the coupe deville I had - if you want a photo, ask me via private message and I'll take a photo and email it to you -

Maybe our old pal Doug Scarrow can help us out with this question.

He was on the forum just last night, by the way.

Yep. He's still poking around.

I don't know about the horn but I imagine the man to whom it belongs would have let us know if it suddenly arrived in the mail.

We should rustle up that post and ask him.

Forrest,
You Da Man!!!
Regarding the horns, I think the long trumpet,"Scarrow" type were last used in 1964. The short trumpets were used until 1968. All horns after that were snail type.

Nope.  Have to disagree with you guys.

My '73 Eldorado has a trumpet horn of the long variety -- plus 3 other "snail type"
horns.  The trumpet was an option, even on the Eldo.  It had a long plastic "trumpet
snout" as opposed to the earlier all metal types.

I purchased this car new, so I know it's correct.  Exact length I would have to check.

Yes, my '72 Eldo has the long, but not that long, trumpet horn.

I also have an oddly optioned 73 Eldo with the 3 regular horns plus a trumpet.   Its been a while since I looked at it but I am thinking the horn part is maybe around 8 inches and about 2-3 inches diameter at the mouth?

By the 70's they were plastic and a bit shorter than the early 60's version. My 73 coupe has one too.

The 59 optional ?? horn (standard on Eldo)was tucked up under the LH front fender behind the headlights. You can modify the 57 and I presume 58 to suit a 59 by modifying the bracket. Horn itself is the same. If I recall you have to turn it around and rebend it slightly. You may have to drill the 2 mounting holes on a non Eldo inner guard.

After several years, Doug Scarrow has never made the horn deal right. He still has my horn, and the money I sent him to rebuild it. He is a deadbeat, and a thief, and I don't recommend anyone from this site do business with him.
