Anyone out there have a good easy proven method for removing the old glued on weatherstriping without damaging the paint from a 1973 Eldorado trunk lid opening?   I have been soaking some sections in "Goo Be Gone" trying to get it to give up adhesive.   Any "Old wives" magic formula's out there?

Never tried, it but would bet a hot air heat gun would do the trick. They have them on sale at Harbor Freight Tools in my area now for $7.99. I've already found a 1/2 dozen uses for that thing in the last few days.  Only think is you wouldn't want to get the paint too hot and would probably use on the low setting and just enough to heat up the old glue. On the high temp settings they also make great paint removers!

A hair dryer should heat it up enough to dislodge it. Keep it moving around. Those heat guns get really really hot. If you're not careful you'll melt the rubber and the paint.

Tim,
I never have had a problem getting old "factory" adhesive out of the trunk groove with just a plastic scrapper and a lot of work.  Typically it hardens up and is easily removable.  If someone has used an aftermarket adhesive then you probably need to try a small area at a time to see what works best.  As sugested, 3-M Adhesive reover would be my first choice.
