Would someone be able to give me the correct part numbers for these sabre wheels?  Are the basic wheels different from year to year?  I know the 56's were gold anodized and the 57 and 58 chrome plated.  Thanks.

Mike,

The part number’s on the inside center of the rims and is as follows:

1955 & 56, 62 & 60 Series PN 1463918 Chrome
1955 & 56, CC & 75 Series PN 1464759 Chrome
1956, 62 & 60 Series PN 1465348 Gold
1956, 75 Series PN 1465353 Gold
1957 & 58, 62 & 60 Series PN 1466798 Chrome
1957 & 58, CC & 75 Series PN 1466799 Chrome

I believe the offset between 55-6 and  57-8 is different. I don’t know the difference between standard series and the 75 and commercial chassis.

Yes, the offset is different from the 55-56 wheels to the 57 and later wheels.

The reason is that the '57 models had improved, larger front brakes which required
a larger inner opening.  The 55-56 wheels will not work on a '57 but the '57 will
fit on the earlier models.

Mikle.  I have seen 57s and 58s with gold Sabres (56 only).  Can you just change the drums to make this work?

Jim:
Perhaps someone else can comment on changing drums to allow for '56 sabres to be used on a '57 or '58.  I have a notion that spacers may also have been used to provide clearance.  Anyone know anything about that option?

My 57 Convertible had 56 GOLD sabres on it and just had a small spacer on the fronts.

Mike and folks,

Not trying to start an argument, but the wheels in question, I believe, are called "Turbine Wheels" in the Master Parts Book. I like to  incorrectly identify these wheels as "Sabre". Sabre looks so much better.

Also, just for fun the inserts are not just aluminum but also have magnesium in them.

The 57 & 58 Brougham's had Turbine wheels which were made the same way.  Steel rims w/riveted aluminum spiders.

L for short,

You noticed I spelled Sabre correctly so I should get partial credit?

I am surprised Bog H did not beat me like a dog for being incorrect. Still learning.
