I kinda like the short back windows on the caddy.

I dont know if its just the photo but it looks like there is a front to back bump along the center line of the Lincoln.  It also looks like there is a bump side to side around the front seat.   I really dont care for those.  Also whats with the extra back side windows?  It looks like my Dodge Magnum station wagon except it has those bump on the top and its got that extra bit on the back.

I'd Rather take my last ride in one a little older. Ed Hill's '39 LaSalle at the 1975 CLC St. Louis Meet.

This brings up a question for the non USA members or those that have spent time outside the USA.    What are and were the traditional funeral cars in other places of the world?

I would chose the Cadillac but I already know what my last ride will be in.... my 1972 S&S Cadillac Victoria.  The first picture was before I added dual stripe bias ply L78-15 tires and name plates.

Sorry, can't name names as they aren't Cadillacs or LaSalles.

In the '60's and '70's they were either American Station Wagons, which due to their size didn't require any body modifications what-so-ever.   Australian Coffins are basic wood, and not the over-sized hinge-lidded monstrosities of what we see in American movies.   The dead don't need all that padding, plus, lots of BBQ's here. ;)

I currently own the '39 Eureka-bodied LaSalle that Terry Wenger mentions in his post.  Is Mr. Ed Hill still living, and does anyone have a contact for him?   After Mr. Hill's ownership, the car was purchased and used by Finley McGinnis at his funeral home in Davenport Iowa.  He is the person who repainted it to his firm's company color, and left the wood carvings their natural color, with a light clear coat for protection.  The attached picture is the car in my driveway.

A complete engine and transmission overhaul has just gotten done, and CLC member Gene Menne is assisting me to get the engine into the car, which should happen very soon, subject to work schedules.  I'd welcome any further information about my car, for historical purposes.  I did exhibit the car at CLC South Bend, and my plan is to have it in Columbus next summer.  I have other funeral cars, some of which have exhibited at CLC, including my '76 S&S hearse, this summer in Kansas City.  See the link below.  Tom

For me it would have to be a Cadillac, I'm not too crazy about the styling in the choice A, but it's better than any non-Cadillac. My local funeral parlor currently has a Cadillac Landau style Hearse, but I plan to live to be 100 so I have 56 years to worry about it.

If I ever do a pre-paid funeral it will be in the contract that the Hearse has to be a Cadillac. 1 from 59-70's would be preferred, though I don't know anyone in the area who has 1 but hear more funeral parlors are getting request for classic Hearses for funerals. Maybe when the time comes I'll have a classic Cadillac hearse in my collection plus a bunch of classic Cadillac's for people to drive in the procession, or club members can drive theirs.

Speaking of overseas Hearses, I saw a banger derby video on youtube recently that had a 1967 or 68 Cadillac hearse in it made from a coupe deVille.

I should have mine finished just in time for me to take a ride in the back ....  :-[

(if someone could somehow copy the contents of their brain into my brain so I would actually know how to get this thing back together, that'd be very helpful)
