Can anyone outline the various engine component colors for a 59? I need which are blue, which black and what sheen the black is for those engine parts. Who is the best vendor for the actual paints? Thanks much, Jim

Jim! How have you been? I'm not a 59 expert, but I'm sure the under hood color scheme is very much like our 53's.

1. Engine: Blue, including the crankshaft pulley.

2. Fan: Semi Gloss black.

3. Fan Pulley: Blue.

4. Power Steering Pump including tank: Semi Gloss black.

5. Power Steering Pump Pulley: Blue

6. Power Steering Pump Mounting Brackets: Blue

7. Generator: Semi Gloss Black, front and rear bearing housings are unpainted, including the fan.

8. Generator Pulley: Semi Gloss Black.

9. Generator Mounting and tension adjusting bracket: Blue

10. Oil Filter. Do the 59's have the old by-pass type of filter? If so, it will be Semi Gloss Black, including mounting brackets.

11. Air Cleaner: Not sure of the 59's, but on my car it's Hi Gloss Black.

For a vendor, I don't think you can beat the Bill Hirsch Engine Enamel for the Cadillac Dark Blue, used from 49-76. It's High Gloss and High Temp. For the black? I just use Rustoleum in the 16oz rattle cans. Never had a problem with it. Holds up well under the hood.
