95 Deville throttle freaked out! this aint no Toyota! ??

Scared the Crap outta me...

what would cause the Idle Speed Control Box thingy to freak out? we were driving the other day and the throttle started climbing on its own!! heck i coulda done 65 without even touching the throttle! not safe, I got a 7mth old girl in here with me.

I noticed that the ISC thing was holding the throttle open. eventually it returned to normal but its done it about 3 times now and I need to fix this before it hurts somebody...

Change the ISC, they get sticky and don’t follow the ECU’s orders.  The one on the wife’s Lumina failed too.  It was not very expensive and easy to change.  Fixed the problem instantly.

The tps can also cause this, the entire system related to idle control, for a proper diagnosis, should be checked out.
