Is there anything specific about a '53 Hydramatic (not dynaflow) that is specific to '53 or will it work for other year Cads without modification? thanks, Jeff. Just asking for a reference.

The torus cover to flywheel bolts are not the same as the 54 and 55 Hydramatics. The bellhousing on the 55 engine will not mate with the cover on the 53. It wont fit 56 onwards.

What the above message says is that the bell housing for the car you want to use it on must be the one you use for a '53 H-M transmission. There is a '41 Cadillac in this area with a '54 transmission in it, and it works. I have driven it.

When a change is made, be sure to use the selector lever and the TV lever from the car you're installing the transmission into.

My own preference for pre-52 Cdillacs (Pontiac and Oldsmobiles) is '46 thru '51 Hydra-Matics. Those were  the lst models to mach the 41-51 selector quadrants.
