i have alasalle and not sure where to find year and vin number.  i am going to sell all the parts for this car and am not sure where to start?  any help is appreciated.  steve

Cars as old as a LaSalle did not have VIN's.  For registration purposes, engine serial numbers were used.  But of course, over the years, engines can be replaced.  For starters, post one or more pictures of your car.  Then we can tell you where you should be able to find the engine serial number.
