I have a 1949 Chilton manual, but strangely does not list specs for LaSalle,  it does of course list Cadillac specs along with all sorts of "orphaned" makes of automobile of the day. Didn't Lasalle offer two displacements in 1940?
Can give you Cadillac specs form '40 if that wil help. Art Woody

Bolt tightening torque specs for 1940 LaSalle will be the same as for 1940 Cadillac V-8 Series 60S and 62 cars. LaSalle had only one engine displacement in 1940, 322 cubic inches. The engine is identical to the 1940 Cadillac V-8 except for the bore being 1/8 inch smaller.
