Do the "trim codes" on 1955 Cadillacs(6237DX)use the same chart as exterior colors for determining color?(what color is #50?) Also, when the roof is painted another color other then body color is there another number for identification purposes?...thanks...walt chomosh....tulsa,ok

Walt:

Exterior color code #50 was pacific coral in 1955.  If your car is an original factory
two tone (roof in a contrasting color) that should be mentioned on your data plate.

If you care to send us a picture, we'll decode it for you.

Mike,
My paint code is 10. My "trim code" is 50. What color is 50? I understand that Coupe
deVilles used a interior fabric of their own. But,I hear of members who have an Eldorado interior in their coupes......walt chomosh....tulsa,ok

Sorry Walt -- didn't understand your question.

Trim code "50" is grey cloth interior.

As far as I know, you could NOT get an "eldorado" style interior in a CDV.
Eldo interiors were a special leather grain with a distinctive pattern.

However, if you had enough $$ sometimes you could order almost anything in
those days.

Walt:

On your '55 Coupe de Ville 55-6237DX The exterior color 10 is black. The interior code 50 is Gray diagonal pattern cloth combined with gray leather. The Coupe de Villes had their own interiors that were different from the other 62 series cars.

According to the '55 Cadillac New Car Specifications Manual, any standard convertible leather was available on the Coupe de Ville at extra charge with the trim style the same as the cloth and leather CDV interior. (biscuits and buttons on cushions and backrests with leather on the ends of both seats and center of the rear seat.)
