If you have a 1973-79 Cadillac with Theft Deterrent System and are willing to lift the hood and look at some codes on the body ID plate for us, please contact me by e-mail.  I am writing an Authenticity Manual for 1971-76 cars and decoding the codes on the body plate.

No Bicentennial convertibles, please.  Already have two for this study.  All of them have Theft Deterrent System, so when you've seen one, you've seen them all.

(This is not a common option, so finding examples isn't easy.  I have reason to think the same code was used for this option 1975-79, so my study of the codes includes years after 1976.  The code is probably unrelated to sales order codes found in data books, window stickers, Cars Built/Shipped reports, and so on.)

Please respond only by e-mail.  We don't want to publicize the security system for your car.  Contributors will be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section of the manual.  Any photo of the body ID plate that you may be kind enough to supply can be published with or without credit, as you like.  [Message search 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 alarm]
