See the  above link for a 5th Wheel to aid in parking this 1950 Cadillac.  The 5th wheel drops down out of the trunk parallel with the bumper.  We could use this option today.  Charles D. Barnette

Ooops, after a closer look, I believe the Cadillac is a 51. Charles

In the process of identifying the Cadillac in the video, I have come up with some simple things to look for externally to tell whether the Cadillac is a 50, 51, 52, or 53 quickly. At first glance these cars look very similar. However on the 50, the backup lights are not in the tail-light, but rather are separate lights located just above the rear bumper. In the front of the 50 Cadillac, the bumper guards look like simple add ons rather than integrated into the bumper as the 51, 52, and 53 are. In regard to the 51 rear, the backup lights are part of the tail-lights and the rear bumpers ends have no exhaust openings. On the 52, there are the decorative Cadillac emblems just above the front bumper under each headlamp signifying the 50th anniversary of Cadillac. On the rear of the 52, are exhaust slits in the rear bumper ends for exhaust. Of course on the 53 Cadillac the bumper guards for both front and rear are larger and the parking lenses on the front are not round circles in the grille but rather are just above the front bumper under each headlamp. There are of course other differences between the four model years, but the observations made herein should be helpful in determining the year at a quick glance between these 4 model years.
