Broken Hood Release Cable - 91 SDV

Any suggestions how I can get the hood open on a 91 Sedan de Ville with a broken hood release cable?  Apparently it broke at the latch assembly under the hood because the cable is still attached to the interior pull handle.  From underneath, you can see and access the secondary release but not the primary. It is on the inside of teh core support.

Does anyone know if you can remove the grille and possibly activate the latch that way?  I think i can get to all of the grille mounting screws from underneath.
